Organizing Update
I am back from my unexpected work assignment in the New Orleans area. As a side note, New Orleans is not much fun when the weather is wet and cold, when one is working seven days per week, more than 12 hours per day, and when the bars and restaurants are hot beds of COVID contamination.
The Field Team met on March 29th. We discussed the plan for the communication workshops for the Field Team and the potential start date, which has been moved into the future several times. Today, we plan to start the workshops on May 16th. We will begin work in the next two weeks to recruit for the workshops. If you are interested in effectively making your voice heard, please plan to join us.
We have used VoteBuilder to identify the most Democratic leaning precincts and House Districts in Laramie County. We plan to deep canvass those first. We will reach out to our Democratic friends in those precincts, thank them for their support, and urge them to action. Additionally, we will reach out to unregistered voters in those precincts, learn about their concerns, and register them as Democrats.
For our work to be successful in any real way, we must organize more organizers. This seems like the mystery to me. The Leading Change Network is hosting an on-line Organizing Orientation on April 14th, from 7:00 am to 10:00 am MDT. I plan to attend. I know that it is a bad time of day for most people, but I can get you all of the details if you would like to attend with me.
