Candidates wishing to file their Nomination by Primary election forms to run for Municipal offices file the form with the City Clerk's office (2101 O'Neil Ave., Room 101, Cheyenne). There is a non-refundable $25.00 filing fee. According to the Wyoming Secretary of State's website, the filing "window" for candidates to submit the form this year begins Thursday, May 13th and ends Friday, May 28th.
Other than a chapter in Cheyenne City Code on the placement of handbills/flyers within the City (on the City's website (www.cheyennecity.org) access the City Code (at left on home page) and follow the trail to the City's code hosted on Municipal Code Company's site, then go to Title 8, Chapter 8.52) and City zoning requirements, provisions of the Wyoming Election Code (Title 22) apply to qualifications for municipal offices as well as campaign practices, reports, activities
and requirements. I am attaching with this e-mail the City Development/Zoning office's information on Political Signs.
If candidates wish to campaign or distribute informational flyers at community events, there may be some restrictions on time, place and manner if the event or activity proposed is on public property or public R-O-W.
State Statutes Title 22, Chapter 23 pertains specifically to Municipal Elections. A good source of information on elections is provided on the Secretary of State's website (http://soswy.state.wy.us) and the Laramie County Clerk's website, under elections (www.laramiecountyclerk.com).
Links to these two websites can also be found on the City's website under the Departments drop down menu (City Clerk / Municipal Elections).
